Experiences
at Zen Koggala.
Beyond the room: kayaking and boat trips on Koggala Lake, Sri Lankan cooking and evenings at the table. Make more of your stay, at your own pace.

Book the room, then give yourself one or two things to look forward to: a lake outing, a cooking experience, or a dinner you have made time for. Everything else can stay open.
At Zen Koggala, your room is a place to return to between those moments. The lake, the pool and the shared spaces make staying in a proper part of the holiday. You can spend a morning here, head towards the coast later, and come back without feeling that the whole day needs another plan.
The trick is to choose what interests you before the days fill up. Here are a few ways to do that.
Kayaking or a boat trip on Koggala Lake.
The view from your balcony is one thing. Being out on Koggala Lake gives the morning a different shape. Ask the team about a kayak outing, or a boat trip if you would rather sit back and look around.
You do not need to do both. Choose the pace that suits you, then leave time to come back for breakfast or a swim in the pool. Before heading out, confirm the duration, price, equipment and suitability for everyone in your party. Weather and water conditions matter; the team will advise on arrangements for the day.
Kayaking and boat trips are chargeable. Swimming at Zen means the pool, rather than the lake.

Sri Lankan cooking, beside the pool.
A meal can be more than the next stop in the day. An outdoor Sri Lankan cooking experience beside the pool gives you a reason to slow down, ask questions and spend time with the food before it reaches the table.
This is arranged around your stay, not offered as a fixed daily class. Ask what the kitchen can prepare, how hands-on the experience will be, and whether the meal is part of the quoted price. Share dietary requirements in advance so the team can confirm what is possible.
Choose room only, bed & breakfast, half board or full board. Your selected rate shows the meals included. If you expect to be out exploring, you may want a different arrangement from a guest planning to spend most of the day at the house. Our dining page explains the current options.
Make time for a lakeside candlelight dinner.
A birthday, an anniversary, or simply a night when neither of you wants to go looking for a restaurant: ask about a lakeside candlelight dinner.
Tell the team what you have in mind, including any dietary requests and whether you would like wine. Confirm the menu, setting, price and what is included before the arrangement is booked. A special dinner is a separate experience; a meal plan does not automatically include it.
There is room for an evening out as well. If you would like to explore, use our local Koggala guide for ideas around the lake and coast, or ask about a separate outing to Galle Fort.
Yoga or a massage, at your own pace.
Some guests want a morning of movement. Others want an afternoon with very little to do. Yoga on the lawn or deck can be arranged on request, and you can ask about a massage during your stay.
There is no resident yoga teacher or fixed daily class. Confirm the practitioner, timing, duration, price and any group requirements with the team. For a quieter afternoon without an appointment, the pool, garden and lakeside deck are there to enjoy.
Our wellness page gives a clearer picture of the setting. A private retreat with its own teacher is a separate arrangement for an organiser, rather than a programme every guest joins.
A few good plans. Plenty of room between them.
For a three-night stay, you might settle in on the first afternoon and keep dinner simple. Make the next morning your lake outing, with the pool and a book afterwards. On another day, choose a cooking experience, a special dinner or time on the coast.
That is a suggestion, not a package or a timetable. Zen is beside the lake; a beach visit is a separate trip. You can add an outing when it feels right, or leave the space exactly as it is.
If you are staying longer and working remotely, the same idea fits around a workday: ask about an activity for the hours you actually have free. You do not need to turn every afternoon into an excursion.
Tell us the part you are looking forward to.
Send your stay dates, number of guests and the experiences that interest you. Add any dietary or accessibility requirements, and say whether you prefer a private arrangement or are open to a group session if one is available.
We can then confirm what is possible and give you the price, inclusions and terms before you decide. Activities depend on availability and conditions; a message starts the conversation, rather than reserving a place.
ASK ABOUT YOUR STAYAlready booked a room? You can still enquire about experiences. If you are choosing your dates, check rooms and availability.
A few things to know.
What activities can I arrange at Zen Koggala?
Ask about kayaking and boat trips on Koggala Lake, a Sri Lankan cooking experience, a lakeside candlelight dinner, yoga or a massage. These are optional experiences arranged on request, subject to availability and conditions. Confirm the price and inclusions with the team; an activity is included only when your selected package explicitly says so.
Are these experiences included in my room booking?
The experiences described here are optional and chargeable unless your selected package explicitly includes one. Ask the team to confirm the price and inclusions before booking. Breakfast depends on your selected meal plan. It is included with bed & breakfast, half-board and full-board packages, and with the whole-villa rate. It is not included in a room-only rate. Check the meal plan and final total for your dates before booking.
Can I arrange an experience after I have booked my room?
Yes, you can enquire before arrival or during your stay. Tell the team your dates, number of guests and what interests you. An enquiry is not a confirmed reservation; the team will confirm availability, price and arrangements.
Is there a daily programme of activities?
There is no fixed daily programme promised by this guide. Cooking experiences, yoga, massages, special dinners and lake activities are arranged on request. There is no resident yoga teacher. Availability depends on the activity, people and conditions.
What happens if the weather changes our plans?
Check the conditions with the team before a lake activity or outdoor session. Ask about alternatives and the cancellation or rescheduling terms when the activity is confirmed. The pool is the place to swim at Zen; do not plan to swim in the lake.
